Quite possible you may not agree with me on this, but still, lend me your ears. There is a huge difference in the techniques adopted in Kids Soccer Drills to train kids in comparison to those who are in high school or college. Because the kids are exposed to everything for the first time and young players, on the other hand young players have experienced this many times before.
Yet, in soccer drills for kids, many techniques can be applied for developing great soccer players. First and foremost, never forget that kids will remain interested in the game only till the time they find pleasure out of it. If their level of interest is not maintained, they feel discouraged to play. They get under pressure to quit the sport. Remain patient and just let the kids be themselves.
Most of the kid’s play the game because their parents want them to while others plays for sheer enjoyment. Neither of them feels motivated by rewards or recognition. In kids soccer drills, it’s common for the soccer coaches to disregard this feature. They press them hard to achieve the daily targets in terms of performance level, physical stamina and skills. This has a negative affect on kids in form of over-exhaustion and loss of confidence.
In planning soccer drills for kids, it’s normal for a new coach to feel somewhat troubled initially. The reason could the indiscipline of the players in the game. But, don’t fret. It may take a little while but they would certainly understand the importance of punctuality and teamwork. They will also understand that only when they respect others will they get respect.
Here, it’s important for you to make sure that kids in youth soccer drills are exposed to the new rules gradually. This is due to the fact that they may not know them and be slow at learning about them. Also, it makes sense to involve the kids in decision making process before you introduce anything new. This makes things easy for the kids and they follow the system correctly.
As the coach, it is also mandatory for you to instill some moral teachings to the kids. To achieve this, measure the performance of the boys individually. You should make sure that all boys spend ample time on the ground and that you praise them wherever due. Along with this, it’s of equal importance that those who fail to comply with the stated rules are adequately punished.
This makes the players liable for their acts.
Yet, be careful in doing so. Do not behave violently with the kid. He should not be mocked or made fun of. As an example, you can keep the boy away from a training session as a punishment.
Now, you should start acting upon these kids soccer drills. While you implement the above rules, you can get even more by joining our youth soccer coaching community. You will get the advantage of being with a community that is ever growing and has tons of resources.
