What if I told you that coaches do make such mistakes in Kids Soccer Drills that have the potential to destroy a team and make it a loser. Yes, it is true. Many of you must be thinking that how can there be something so big that can destroy a team. Well then, the bad news is that they are many.
When it comes to soccer drills for kids, you have to be very careful and strategic. You need to understand the psychology of the kids. Speak with them in a language that they can understand well. But unfortunately, many coaches are unprepared to adjust to it. They simply close their eyes to the dissimilarity between teaching adult players and kids.
So there you have it; top faults of coaches that bring the teams to a point, from where it’s near impossible to get back on to the winning track.
1. Several coaches don’t take their jobs seriously. They don’t arrange the drills, refuse to plan their sessions, and are always late in getting to the field. Such behavior is bad and also has the potential to sadden the kids. Just like the kids, you too should get serious about soccer. Make arrangements for youth soccer drills beforehand. Put together all kinds of equipments which you would need to accomplish the drills.
Always be prompt. Make it a point to reach the field earlier than the kids. In reality, be present there to welcome the kids. This will also give you some time to rehearse the drills or arrange for things.
2. When coaches give instructions for kids soccer drills, they get so carried away by their emotions that they keep going on and on. Can you believe how boring that can be? You must realize that players are more interested in playing than hearing. Keep your words of wisdom brief and straight forward. Use these sessions in a way that the kids get inspired to play and enjoy the game.
Also, do not interrupt the kids when they are playing. If the kids do anything incorrectly, make a note of it and share it afterwards. Also, stay out of the field when the kids are practicing.
3. Some coaches get ruthless and unkind while dealing with the kids. In soccer drills for youth, both the behaviors are unacceptable. It may spell disaster for you if you get carried away by emotions on the field. It is imperative that the kids will make mistakes. Remember, they are just kids. Never take things very critically and make it an excuse to get bad with the players.
If you do, understand that you not only make the kids lose interest in the sport but also invite disciplinary action. Soccer is a game of the intelligent. When the kids understand this, they feel inspired.
