Use a Soccer field diagram that acts as a timetable in teaching the kids various positions and soccer formations thus resulting in a effective planning and performance. When the kids are younger, say between 4 to 6 years in age, it is better to make them play in small sided soccer, like a 3 v 3, or a 4 v 4 without goalkeepers.
As they grow up, they can then move to a 5 v 5 with a goalkeeper. This has tremendous benefits. This will result in kids having a lot more fun, learn the theory of the game better, and get touch the ball many times.
At this tender age, the kids are just about learning to control and pass the ball. You can start training them on positions and formations also. This is the appropriate time to select players as forwards or defenders. Also, it’s for you to see that they arrive at their positions to the greatest extent.
Someday in future you’ll see the number of players improving in accordance with the field’s size. Creating formations then would become a tad complicated. However, you must still allot the players different positions and make sure that they are honestly working on playing from those positions.
You should have dialogue with the players after you’ve decided the formations. They must be made to understand the idea behind it and the reason that makes one particular player suitable for a particular position that any other player. And then there are some who learn on the field by seeing you perform drills or even reading the documented text.

Other than the diagram, you should attempt to write down your thoughts. This gives the kids an opportunity to go through the instructions at their own pace which improves their understanding a great deal. The parents can also glance through it and get to know your views and goals for the team and individual players.
In order to teach soccer positions, make it a point to make an extensive use of field diagrams in whatever you do. It’s probably the best tool that helps save a lot of time and energy in the event of explaining the formations.
