Until now, we have seen that if something is not elastic is plastic, but this does not fully explains the meaning of plastic. The literal definition of plastic indicates a substance that can be molded. With the discovery of plastic, this milestone has touched our lives more than any other discovery. It has effectively substituted the materials previously used for furniture. Now you can have lighter desks and tables that have given a different look to our homes and offices. But, this is not where it suffice. Plastic has created its path into the sporting essentials as well. Products such as batting cages and baseball softball pitching machines have a major portion constituting of plastic, which provides them vigor and durability. A %LKINK2% can be created from other fabrics as well but plastic gives more toughness to it.
There has been an increasing shift in use. The usual trend recently is to go for a less weighty and more vibrant lifestyle. Thus people are opting for synthetic fabric mostly made from plastic. In this era, plastic is an ideal fabic as it is light and strong at a time. Due to its ability to get molded into anything, you can make almost everything out of plastic.
The trait of durability makes plastic the prominent option for making insulating materials. The choice of plastic has left natural fibers far behind. Different traditional products go through thick and thin, however, plastic maintains its spot. This versatile fabric is used in the making of inexpensive toys, fabrics, casings and decorations. A little more firm form of plastic has replaced other procedures such as plumbing conduits, gears, bearings and other automobile accessories. However, we must not ignore what the environmentalists say on this widespread usage of plastic. The fact that some plastics are too cost-effective and way too durable is a little difficult to digest. This makes them gather on the earth. We definitely don’t want our descendants to remember us by the innumerate Styrofoam cups that we through away each year. Such plastic products will remain on the surface of the earth for a very long time as they degrade very slowly.
It’s the menace caused by plastic that opened doors to recycling, and now this process is attaining pace. With this process, plastic can be used over and over again. The discarded plastic is remolded to form new containers for food stuffs, water-resistent bags, fences, benches, etc. The amazing fact is that the recycling of plastic is quite easy as compared to any other fabric. One thing worth mentioning here is that Xylonite was the first plastic from where it all started. Though, it really lacked the basic degradative features, yet it ruled the market in the early nineteenth century. After which, Bakelite took the lead and it spread among the industries of the world. All the manufacturers were motivated by the reasonable price of the material and its effortlessness of making.
Many researchers agree that the utilization of plastic should be reduced somehow; in the meantime scientists are thinking of methods to degrade plastic products that have previously accumulated. The bottom line is that with the enhancements of the recycling processes, plastic appears to have a long and bright scope in our industrial system.

These days, people will go out of their way to keep fit, or at least have a go at, trying to make them selves more supple. However, merely doing the same exercise over and over again is somewhat boring and many give up at the first sign of aching. Using a baseball softball pitching machines withbatting cages means that the user can practice the game, but still have an opportunity to get fit while playing. The batting cage means that they can also do this alone without having to watch where the balls are going to avoid damage to buildings and such.
This automatic throwing equipment certainly gives the user the opportunity to get skilled at this game or merely improve on what they learned some years before. Women like to have a go at this too but it is also possible for children to play with this equipment since the equipment is easily adjustable for just about anyone to play.
But make no mistake because these machines are not half hearted attempts at the real thing which are soon discarded. Even professional players use them to get their muscles back into shape after a long lay off. Muscle memory is often used to make sure that the body will be familiar with how it feels to have balls come at the player at high speeds, much like when playing the game itself.
Schools and sports clubs also use these machines to allow for neighborhood members to come and practice their ball skills but in relative safety. Some go on to become professional players once they have undergone some training with this style of equipment. It also encourages bonding sessions between young people since the game is a lot of fun and family members will often have team games going on.
Although these machines were once thought to be overly expensive for family fun, these days the price of the equipment has come down to within family budgets even if they are small. At around three hundred dollars for the first piece of equipment, and a little more for the additional equipment, this could be just the set up to keep the family energized and happy throughout the following years.
Along with the equipment there are many professional videos and ‘how to’ manuals which have been produced with professional players giving demonstrations. Imagine how the children would feel being given super tips by some star who seems like they are part of the family set up. Even Mom and Dad may get interested too as long as the super star involved is a favorite with them.
Of course it is not just the game and keeping fit which is the point of this equipment. Once the player gets better at the game, their confidence grows to a higher degree and this just may be the way to bring out a shy kid from his shell. Finding something that he can do better than the other children will certainly make him feel better in himself and this is great for the future.

The game known as cricket is not unlike one of the most popular American sports of all time. In fact, people who play cricket often use baseball softball pitching machinesto keep their performance up. One cricket player is known to have said he has a batting cage at his home, so cricket players also use batting cages to work on their game. The game of cricket has been around for centuries and it is popular in lots of different areas throughout the world as it was brought to different parts of the globe through colonization.
Cricket was first played in England during the early 1700s. The game really became popular in England proceeding its’ new title as Britain’s national sport. This is the point where the game became more organized when it came to rules and organized teams. By the time England began exploring and colonizing other nations, they were really comfortable with the sport, so naturally they brought the game with them as the British began to colonize other nations. Because of colonization, the people from England were able to bring the game of cricket to many different parts of the globe. The game is still very popular in pretty much all of the former British colonies.
Each team, is allowed to put on the pitch a total of eleven players. The game is played with two opposing teams and like the American sport, one person pitches or bowls, as it is called in cricket, to the opposition team’s hitter. It is similar to the American sport in that the person who bats wants to get as many points as possible before getting out. The big difference is that instead of running to the bases, the person who hits the ball is wants to run around something that is called the wicket as many times as possible. The wicket is usually set up directly behind the batter, where it is about waist high. There are two ways to play the game in which the game could go on for only a few hours for only one day or the game could go on for about five days, again, depending on which way is chosen. For most other parts of the game it is not much different than our “great American pastime” as far as outs are concerned and how the game is actually played.
The game is said to be the second most popular sport in the world only to soccer, which is known to be the most popular. The more famous countries that play the game are India, Australia, Pakistan, and England. Teams from these nations are almost always some of the best in the world.
There are many things that England has contributed to the entire planet since they became a huge empire. England had a hand in spreading both soccer and cricket to many nations, which are today, two of the most popular sports on the planet. Cricket is really close to the “great American pastime” when it comes to many of the fundamentals of the game. The history of cricket is extremely rich and the game will most likely continue to grow as cricket is brought to other nations in the future.

Playing little league baseball or joining your first soccer team when you were 9 years old used to be fun, entry level experiences for kids to be exposed to the fun of learning how to play a particular sport. You used to try a recreational league for a season and then if you wished, could try another sport the following season. Youth sports have changed dramatically over the past 20-30 years and now children are beginning to play organized team sports as young as 3 or 4 years old and choosing a sport to specialize in and play year round by the end of elementary school with special private coaching and using the best pitching machines and batting cages in the winter, for example. The level of intensity for kids athletics is the same as it was for high school and even some college athletes 25 years ago and this is leading to a host of new problems.
One of the biggest changes is the age at which children are now signed up for sports. Not long ago, the youngest age usually, was around seven or eight years old to play soccer and ten or eleven years old to start basketball. Now it is sometimes still in diapers for soccer and five years old for basketball. Most of the kids at these little ages do not have neither the physical coordination nor the attention span to be able to get through an hour long sports practice. Due to this, children quit a sport earlier because it was too hard for them.
Children are also being told that they have to specialize and focus on one sport around the age of 10 years old to be able to get an athletic scholarship for college. This has increased stress related injuries in a lot younger kids as a result of overdoing it on their still developing bodies. The overuse on the kids physically and mentally has caused a whole generation of youth to completely burn out by the time they reach middle school or high school which is a real shame.
This more intense level of athletics at a younger age is also experienced by their coaches and the parents too. There have been several incidents when parents become unruly at their children’s games or competitions that they cause problems with their inappropriate behaviors and must be told to leave. Because of this, most schools and youth leagues now require parents to sign a contract saying they will act appropriately. Coaching has also become much more intense for kids. In the past a parent would volunteer to coach and that was much appreciated. Now parents are hiring private coaches and personal trainers to have their kid to be the best athlete ever. The Financial investment parents put into their children’s athletic pursuits is sky high.
Perhaps, people will realize that children need to be children and do not need the physical or mental stress that is being put on them athletically by their coaches and parents.

Robotic machines are now a common part of our lives. Things such as computers, toasters and even baseball softball pitching machines are used to help us in our everyday life. It’s quite easy to stand inside a batting cage and hit a round of balls that appear to be the same to those pitched by a real human. What kind of moral questions do such possibilities bring out? Is it fine to be so reliant on machines? My concern is not with robots taking over our lives in any scary movie sense, I don’t expect batting cages to come to life and try to kill us all, but our dependence on machines to do the work that was done by humans less than a hundred years ago marks a rapid change in the way we live our lives. This change is worth thinking about.
Obviously, with the inception of the internet, our whole way of thinking has been altered. It’s hard to imagine what it would have been like for Native Americans, for example, or even Europeans who lived in a rural setting. These people may have seen around only a few hundred faces in their lifetime, while we may interact with that many humans within the time of just a year, and the number of faces we see can hardly be counted.
While the changes may seem insignificant, it has to be admitted that such a way of living will have effects on our brains themselves. It’s been reported that the brain is physically changed by the sensations and experiences it receives, so to say what we view changes our brain is in no way an exaggeration.
Has the growing use of robotics had a positive effect on our lives? If we think about this in terms of convenience and superficial happiness, there’s no question that it has. It has never been easier to have food and diversions delivered to our house within minutes of our wanting to have them. But this, of course, is only true for those in wealthy situations living in developed countries. In order to exist like this, there are others in poorer countries who must do the task of making the shoes, connecting the machines and building the boxes. It goes without saying that the majority of these workers will be poorly paid for their labor, as those in the developed areas would be unwilling to pay a higher price for things which we feel are deserved.
Along with the exploitation of other humans is the exploitation of non-human life. The way we act towards nature appears to be a near abusive relationship, with man simply taking what they can view around them and claiming it to be his own.
Undoubtedly, such a destructive relationship with the world around us has begun to have seriously damaging effects on the way we’re able to live our own lives of comfort. When nature and machine damage each other, it is nature that humans will need more in order to continue their survival. One would wish that we are able to see this occur before it’s too late.
